For five years I worked in the recruitment industry in London, UK—one of the toughest markets I have ever worked in. Dear Kristina,
I am very glad to be in touch with you through this letter to acknowledge the professionalism of your application (Feng Shui) to my flat. As you were aware, this was one of the oldest residences in this famous old 15th Century Street It, of course, has suffered many agonies of battle (Charles I – Henry VIII) as Cirencester was engaged.
It was brave of you to take it on and I saw what enormous energies you propensed to deal with the shadows and corridors of cleansing this space. The house remains much as you left it two weeks ago, and I would like to make note of its reaction on me and others since that time of your visit.
1. The welcome-in and the grace-of-living has certainly changed. I have the historic past, which I adore, but in the comfort, warmth and beauty of a modern dwelling (which of course it is).
2. I shall never be without flowers and plants again. You said upon first entry: “There is fire here, no water.” The fire was my own brain eating upon itself, and needing what I didn’t understand. As a writer, I was caught up on my own fragilities, needing both health and strength to deal with my career. I had no idea how much this house had been affecting me. Thanks to you, the bedroom with its blaze of colour, plus our infrequently appearing English sun, both adding to my Shiva wall hangings is now a delight. I sleep well and awake to beauty.
3. Your rules for bathroom and kitchen (sometimes I forget) are pro forma from now on. It is only common sense of the ages.
4. My “wealthy corner” is now devoted to what I shall accomplish in due time (TV to a less conspicuous place — it eats my energy) and my desk area is already set for the books and projects -fertile in my mind and taking shape. As much as anything, your arduous application, of what we know is beyond, has whipped up my mind. I feel twice as strong as when you were here, and even then, I thought I was strong. My “family wall” now full of flowers and fond remembrances is a joy. One look gives me inspiration to tackle the day’s chores, and that mainly is what writers have to do. Thank you.”
